Time Zones and Meteorology in the United States
By law, time in the United States is divided into six standard time zones, which include states, territories, and other U.S. possessions, with most of the United States observing daylight saving time (DST) for roughly the spring, summer, and fall months. Huh.
The United States is spread over six time zones. They are Hawaii, Alaska, Pacific, Mountain, Central, and Eastern from west to east.

CONUS (Continental America) has 344 climate divisions. For each climate division, monthly station temperature and precipitation values are calculated from daily observations.
The divisional values are weighted by region to calculate the total state values , and the state-wide values are weighted by region to estimate the regional values.
The US is generally divided into five distinct regions: the Northeast, the Southwest, the West, the Southeast, and the Midwest. The climate of the United States varies dramatically by region.
The region can further be divided into three types of climate: the coastal Mediterranean weather, the desert climate, and the montane alpine climate. In all these three regions, summers are hot and dry.
