Eight Warriors basketball players scored in double figures in a thrilling 144-113 win over the Spurs

The Golden State Warriors began a five-game road trip in front of the largest crowd in the history of the NBA. With the Alamodome hosting the San Antonio Spurs, a record-setting 68,323 fans were in attendance to watch the Dubs defeat Greg Popovich’s team 144–113.

The Warriors have found it difficult to fill in the missing pieces this season. While the depth chart is thin in the front court, Golden State’s woes have been far more pervasive than any one spot in the rotation. 500 on Thursday, the team is pushing to play with another level of intensity.

Faced with a severe lack of talent against a Spurs team, the Warriors brought the intensity they needed and cruised to victory.

The Warriors started well, took a 33-28 lead at the end of the first quarter, and never looked back. The Warriors never led by less than 15 points after the halfway mark in the third quarter.

Klay Thompson was feeling it early, hitting several shots from deep and displaying good decision-making as a passer. While he played less than 23 minutes, Thompson finished with 16 points (7-for-10 shooting from the field), three rebounds, and four assists.

Steph Curry was solid in his second game in the rotation after returning from his shoulder injury. Curry was only 2-for-7 from three but was 4-for-5 from inside the arc and finished with 15 points, four rebounds, and three assists in 23 minutes.

Draymond Green led the Warriors with a +20 plus/minus and recorded 6 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, three steals, and one block. Kevon Looney added a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds.

The Warriors’ bench was as impressive as their starting unit. Jordan Poole scored 25 points while finishing 8-for-16 from the field with three rebounds and six assists. Donte DiVincenzo continued his impressive recent play, racking up 22 points, seven rebounds, five assists, two steals, and a game-best +24 plus/minus.

All ten active Warriors scored at least five points in the contest.

The Warriors will have an off day before continuing their road trip in Chicago against the Bulls. Opening tip-off on Sunday is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Pacific.
